Wind River Canyon

Over father’s day weekend, we went to the Hot Spot Car Rally in Thermopolis.  Our journey from Casper took us through the beautiful Wind River Canyon.  The walls of the canyon can reach as much as 2500 feet. It is spectacular, to say the least.  On the way back through, I asked my husband if he could stop along the way so I could take some pictures.  He asked me where I would like to stop.  I told him to just stop at ALL the pull-outs.  Boy, I didn’t realize there were so many!  I sure was worn out getting in and out of the truck, climbing over guard rails, and walking around trying to get that perfect shot at every pull-out.  Trust me, he was very diligent (and might I add very patient) making sure that we stopped at EVERY pull-out.  (The moral of the story is:  Be careful what you ask for. Hehe.)

Here are just a few of the nearly three hundred pictures that I took.

We noticed a couple of men climbing up the rocks here. (Center of the picture.)

I bet when this big guy (rock) fell from it’s perch, it scored on the Richter scale!

There is actually a series of three tunnels that wind through the rock cliff.  Unfortunately, I was only able to capture two of them.
