Today is the day that thousands of bloggers unite to bring awareness to the importance of dog rescues.
Our dog, Jack! We had just moved to the country and were tossing around the idea of getting a dog when we found out about Jack. His owners basically abandoned him at a boarding place. A nice lady, who used to babysit Jack for the owners, paid the boarding fees (nearly $1000) and wanted Jack to go to a good home. You see, he was going to be put to sleep if nobody took him and the nice lady couldn’t have him where she lived. We decided that Jack would make a good fit with our young family. He was two years old when we adopted him. He is now 13.
Our dog Cookie! We rescued Cookie from friends of ours. They had a large family and their female dog got out and came back pregnant. They couldn’t afford to feed their family and the puppies. They were hoping to be able to give them all away, but if not, they were going to have to go to the pound. We chose Cookie! She was 6 weeks old when we got her and now she is 11.

Millions of dogs are euthanized each year because not enough people are adopting dogs through local rescue groups and shelters. - Adopt a companion
- Donate to a local dog rescue organization
- Foster a dog
- Volunteer at a local shelter or rescue organization
- Start a donation drive at your work place. Most of the shelters will take blankets, towels, cleaning supplies, and of course cash.
I think this is a fantastic way to bring awareness to such a great cause . I look forward to participating again next year!
Jack is totally channeling Elvis in the “together” photo. Looks like you guys stumbled onto some very good canine companions! What breeds or breed mixes are they?
They are definitely mixed breeds. We were told that Jack is Australian shepherd husky and Cookie is Australian lab. They are quite the duo.

Friends come in and out of your lives, and can sometimes be unkind. Dogs give you all there love and devotion and never treat us badly… Thanks for rescuing dogs… If only I had the time for another one, our puppy keeps us on our toes all day long 🙂
